A flying paradise for every level of pilot.  Early morning sled rides of over 3800 vertical feet, landing next to the Chicamocha River.  Mid morning thermals and XC for more seasoned pilots.  4 launches. Pico de Aguilas and Tumba de Aleman on the Mesa de Los Santos side of the Canon.  Chiflas or Panachi launch at the the Parque Nacional de Chicamocha on the opposite side of the Canon. 

Flying Sites:

(east side of canyon)
A great place to catch a morning flight or plan an XC back to the Mesa. A nice glide down to the river.


 

(west side of canyon)
This area of Mesa de los Santos has a long steep grade launch ending with a 2,000 ft vertical drop. Morning thermals take you to cloudbase opening up the possibility of crossing the canyon to the Panachi.

Plenty of room for setting up a final approach. Be ready for hot weather. It is 20 degrees F warmer on the river bed.
